COVID-19 positive cases on the rise in Hailakandi district: total 14 containment zones
110 active cases in Hailakandi
June 30: Four more containment zones have come up in Hailakandi following the detection of COVID-19 positive cases on Monday. The district administration has declared Lakhirbond Part I and Matjuri Subsidiary Health Centre, both under Hailakandi revenue circle, Harishnagar Part III and Karicherra-Shampur, both under Katlicherra revenue circle as containment, buffer zones following detection of COVID-19 infected persons who were under home quarantine, to arrest the spread of the disease.
Separate orders to this effect was issued by Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal under the Assam COVID-19 Containment Regulation, 2020 on Monday late evening. The administration has sealed the Matijuri Subsidiary Health Centre and the official quarter where GNM nurse, Gita Das, 38, was detected COVID-19 positive. Even the administration sealed four shops at Central Road in Hailakandi town where Das had visited. Contact tracing is going on. There are altogether 14 containment, buffer zones across the district.
The district has a total of 291 COVID-19 positive cases, including two deaths. With the discharge of 179 cured persons from hospitals, there are currently 110 active cases. 34 patients are admitted at SK Roy designated COVID-19 Hospital, 31 at MG Model Hospital, 12 at SMC&H, 32 at Algapur Model Hospital and one at GMC&H. Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at SMC&H.
Of the 7,812 swab samples taken, 6,424 turned out to be negative, as per health bulletin released on Monday evening. 978 swab results are awaited. Altogether 1,173 persons are under facility quarantine centres and 3,680 under home quarantine.
