COVID-19: Milanpur Masjid at Chandmari in Guwahati sealed

April 27: After Athgaon Masjid in Guwahati, now the Milanpur Masjid No 2 at Chandmari in Guwahati was sealed on Monday by the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration and health department. The mosque was declared as a containment zone. As per reports, a worker of the mosque went to Nalbari, which has been classified as COVID-19 hotspot district. Reportedly, he came back from Nalbari in an ambulance and went to the Milanpur Masjid.

Locals also alleged that the man, after returning from Nalbari, visited the mosque and also recited azan. Following reports, the mosque was sealed, the worker, his wife and their 3-year-old child have been put under quarantine. The Milanpur area was also sanitized by the health department as a preventive measure. However, it is not clear as of now, how the man came out from a hotspot zone.

It needs mention here that the Athgaon Masjid in Guwahati was also sealed after three of the Covid-19 positive patients in Assam were found to have taken part in a gathering there in March.
