COVID-19: Containment zone declared in parts of Chotojalenga in Cachar
June 14: A COVID-19 positive case was reported from Chotojalenga of Dholai constituency in Cachar. This new COVID-19 positive patient, a 31 years old female is a resident near LP School, Bazartilla, Chotojalenga in Cachar district. After testing positive, she was admitted in the COVID-19 ward for treatment.
In an order issued by District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli on 12 June, it was stated that, to contain the further spread of the virus, the area of House of the COVID-19 patient near LP School, Bazartilla, Chotojalenga in Cachar district was declared as a containment zone and it was immediately sealed. Further, the area inside the following geographical boundaries was also sealed:
- North: Kalachera Tea Estate (Fari garden of West Jalenga TE
- South: West Jalenga Tea
- East: Silchar- Hailakandi Road
- West: West Jalenga Tea Plantation
Further, the following areas in Silchar revenue Circle were also declared as buffer zone:
- North: Dowarbond Bazar
- South: Barjalenga Part- I
- East: Choto Jalenga Part II (across the Silchar- Hailakandi Road)
- West: Lotonpur Tea Estate
To implement the above instructions, following restrictions were also imposed in the geographical area mentioned above:
- Clear entry and exit points are to be established.
- No unauthorised entry and exit of the residents in the contained area will be allowed.
- Vehicular movement is to be strictly prohibited.
- No movement is to be allowed except for medical emergencies, essential goods and services.
- No unchecked influx of population is to be allowed
- People transiting are to be recorded and followed through IDSP.
- Stricter enforcement of all statutory directions regarding social distancing.
District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli stated that the orders are issued under the Regulations “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” and shall be effective from 0700 hours of 12 June, 2020 until further orders.
Borjalenga AP Member Bulti Deb appealed to the residents of the area to obey the regulations issued by the District Magistrate and said that the area is under strict surveillance.
