COVID-19: AHSEC issues reduced syllabus, click for details

Sept. 6: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has finally published the reduced syllabus of HS 1st & 2nd year for the 2020-21 academic year in the backdrop of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic. In this connection, the AHSEC has earlier sought the opinion of the stakeholders. It is on the basis of the opinion expressed by the stakeholders that the Council has finally eased the curriculum load by 30 percent. The downsizing, of course includes both HS First Year and HS Second Year curriculum of Arts, Science & Commerce streams.

Manoranjan Kakati, Secretary of AHSEC said, “It is our pleasure to inform all concerned that the AHSEC has uploaded in the official website of the Council www.ahsec.nic.in the 30% (reduced portion only) syllabi for all subjects of H.S. First and Second year of Arts, Science & Commerce streams. It is also decided that the skill based subjects, including Music which carries 30 marks in theory must not be reduced. The subject ‘Environmental Education is also not reduced as it carries 50 marks only. The main objective is to reduce the exam stress of the students of the session 2020-21, due to this pandemic situation and to prevent learning gaps. This syllabi is only the reduced portion for the preparaiton of upcoming final exams of HS 1st and 2nd year to be held in 2021.”
