Couple lost life on same day in Dibrugarh due to Covid leaving behind 13-year-old child
June 29: In a tragic incident, a couple died in Dibrugarh on the same day after being infected by Covid-19 leaving behind their 13-year-old child. Dudul Mohan Barua (51), a resident of Amkotiya village at Dhakuakhana, Assam shifted to Digboi since many years and used to stay in a rented house there with his wife and a child. He used to work as a temporary electrician in a private company under Digboi Oil Refinery.
Dudul Mohan Barua was detected Covid-19 positive when he went to a vaccination centre in Digboi for the jab. He was then admitted in a special Covid Hospital in Dibrugarh. But as his condition detoriorated, he was shifted to an ICU. He, however, succumbed to the coronavirus infection in the evening on 27 June, 2021.
Meanwhile, his wife Mira Ojha Barua (45) was also detected as Covid positive just two days after her husband was admitted in the hospital. She was admitted at Assam Medical College & Hospital. Mira Ojha Barua too died in the afternoon on 27 June, a few hours before her husband breathed his last in Dibrugarh Covid hospital.
The incident has cast a spell of gloom upon the only child of the couple Nayan Krishna Baruah (13), who is at present residing in the house of his maternal uncle.
