Counting ends in Sonai; BJP wins 6 seats & ready to form Municipal Board

March 9: Counting of votes for Sonai Municipal Board has come to an end in which the BJP has emerged as the single majority party and is all set to form the board. The counting of votes took place on Wednesday at Government Boys HS School, Silchar. The counting started at 8 AM and it was completed by 10 AM.

There are a total of 11 wards under Sonai Municipal Board. Voting was held in 10 wards of Sonai, out of which, Ward No. 11,5, 3, 4 and 1 were won by BJP candidates. AIUDF could register their victory in Ward No. 3, 9 & 10. The independent candidates were able to win Ward No. 6 & 8. It needs mention here that the BJP candidate in Ward No 7 was already declared elected unopposed.
