Contrary to rosy claims of Kolkata man, water bottles sold for ₹3,000, rice plate for ₹7,400 at Kabul airport
Aug. 26: A youth from Kolkata who was in a teaching profession fled away with his life to India after the Taliban militants captured Afghanistan. While narrating his experience in Afghanistan, post-Taliban capture, the youth was all in praises of the Taliban militia. He even told that the Taliban militants gave people free meals and free cold water near the Kabul airport. However, contrary to his claims, an Afghan citizen told news agency Reuters that at Kabul airport, one bottle of water is sold for $40 (Rs.3,000) and a plate of rice for $100 (over Rs.7,400).
Afghan Fazl-ur-Rehman said food and water were sold at exorbitant prices at Kabul airport. ‘One bottle of water is selling for $40 and plate of rice for $100, and not Afghani (currency) but dollars. That is out of reach for common people,’ he said https://t.co/KczQEMm2nB pic.twitter.com/UBmaAQumXP

The Afghan citizen further told that the exorbitant price for water and food has made it out of bounds for the common people. Infact, Afghans are trying to flee the country after the Taliban takeover on 15 August, 2021. Even satellite images show chaos at Kabul airport.
