Containment zone declared in Narsing Road (Bhandar Galli) at Tarapur, Silchar

May 18: In an order issued on 16 May, 2021 (DDMA 40/CHR/2021/14) by Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Cachar, part of Kalimohan Road, Tarapur, Silchar under Silchar PS was declared as a containement zone. However, in partial modification of this order, a corrigendum was issued by the Cachar district administration on 18 May, 2021. As per the modified order, Narsing Road (Bhandar Galli) at Tarapur, Silchar was declared as containment zone in place of the earlier notified part of Kalimohan Road.

As per new Covid guidelines issued by the Government of Assam, micro containment zones are to be declared in areas which has a positivity rate of more than 5 percent. It is in this connection that District Development Commissioner cum CEO of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Cachar in a notification issued on 18 May, 2021 stated that Covid-19 positive cases has reached more than 5% positivity rate in the last one week in Narsing Road (Bhandar Galli) at Tarapur, Silchar. As such, to contain the further spread of the virus, the geographical area mentioned below was declared as a containment zone and which was immediately sealed.

Proposed containment zone boundary:

  • North: Tarapur Railway Station
  • South: Kendriya Vidyalaya boundary
  • East: Kalimohan Road bylane
  • West: Kalimohan Road

To implement the above instructions, following restrictions were also imposed in the geographical area mentioned above:

  1. Clear entry and exit points are to be established.
  2. No unauthorised entry and exit of the residents in the contained area will be allowed.
  3. Vehicular movement is to be strictly prohibited.
  4. No movement is to be allowed except for medical emergencies, essential goods and services.
  5. No unchecked influx of population is to be allowed
  6. People transiting are to be recorded and followed through IDSP.
  7. Stricter enforcement of all statutory directions regarding social distancing.
