Containment zone declared at Udayachal Lane in National Highway, Silchar

May 21: As per new Covid guidelines issued by the Government of Assam, micro containment zones are to be declared in areas which has a positivity rate of more than 10 percent. It is in this connection that Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Cachar in a notification issued on 20 May, 2021 stated that Covid-19 positive cases has reached more than 10% positivity rate in the last one week at Udayacharan Lane in National Highway, Silchar. (Though the order mentioned it as Udhay Charan lane, but as per location, there is no lane by such name in the area specified & rather there is a lane named Udayachal Lane). As such, to contain the further spread of the virus, the geographical area mentioned below was declared as a containment zone and which was immediately sealed.

Proposed containment zone boundary:

  • North: South Point School
  • South: Bare Land
  • East: Mahatma Gandhi Lane
  • West: Ram Krishna Sarani

To implement the above instructions, following restrictions were also imposed in the geographical area mentioned above:

  1. Clear entry and exit points are to be established.
  2. No unauthorised entry and exit of the residents in the contained area will be allowed.
  3. Vehicular movement is to be strictly prohibited.
  4. No movement is to be allowed except for medical emergencies, essential goods and services.
  5. No unchecked influx of population is to be allowed
  6. People transiting are to be recorded and followed through IDSP.
  7. Stricter enforcement of all statutory directions regarding social distancing.

District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli stated that the ordershall be valid for 14 days from the date of the collection of the swab sample. The order shall come into force with immediate effect and will be deemed withdrawn on the 15th day.
