Congress MLA Sashi Kanta Das extends support to BJP govt, APCC issues show cause notice

Dec. 20: Congress MLA from Raha Sashi Kanta Das has extend support to the BJP-led government in the state. Sashi Kanta Das, on Monday morning, met chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita, triggering speculations that he might soon join the BJP. Expressing his views, CM Dr Sarma stated that Sashi Kanta Das has “pledged to support BJP-led Assam government politically”.  

Taking to his twitter handle, CM Sarma wrote, “Moved by PM Sri @narendramodi‘s vision of development, Hon MLA of Raha of @INCIndia Sri Sashi Kanta Das has pledged his commitment to support Assam Govt politically.This is exemplary and will strengthen governance. I & BJP Assam President @Bhabesh_Kalita hail this decision.”

Meanwhile, state Congress has taken a strict measure against its own MLA Sashi Kanta Das. The Assam Congress has issued a show cause notice to Raha MLA Sashi Kanta Das for extending support to the BJP-led government in the state and has given a 24-hour deadline to MLA Das for responding to the show cause notice.
