Congress expels MLA Ajanta Neog from primary membership of the party

Dec. 25: The Congress on Friday expelled Ajanta Neog, a party MLA and former minister in the Tarun Gogoi cabinet in Assam from its primary membership for “indulging in anti-party activities”.

In a press release, AICC General Secretary, KC Venugopal wrote, “Hon’ble Congress President has approved the proposal of expulsion of Smt. Ajanta Neog, MLA Assam from the primary membership of the party for indulging in anti-party activities with immediate effect. ”

The expulsion of Ajanta Neog from the party comes amid reports that the former Assam Public Works Department minister Neog plans to join the ruling BJP during the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Assam.
