Committee formed by Chief Justice to decide on resumption of physical courts

August 15: A day later the Bar Council of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim sat for an hour-long protest demanding the resumption of physical courts on Thursday, 13 August, the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court has constituted a five-judge committee to take a decision on resumption of physical Courts.

The Secretary of the Bar Council of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, Kulesh Goswami informed that the 5-judge committee will have interactions with the stakeholders on 17 August. Apart from the Gauhati High Court, the regular functioning in all subordinate Courts and the Advocate Association office and bar libraries were closed following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
