Road cleared after 6 hours of landslide at Sonapur tunnel

way2barak, Oct.5: There has been another landslide on NH-06 at Sonapur Tunnel in the early hours of the 5 October, where huge boulders have blocked the way to the Tunnel. Efforts were then underway to remove the boulders and clear the highway for Traffic movement.

However, after more than 6 hours of hard work, the boulders that fell on NH-06 blocking Sonapur Tunnel have been cleared and traffic is now moving. Commuters were however advised to expect slight jam due to backlog of traffic. Police personnel from Umkiang Police Post and Lumshnong Police Station are on the job regulating traffic. In a statement, East Jaintia Hills Police said,  “Commuters are requested to co-operate with the personnel on the field and to kindly be patient.”
