CM Sonowal inaugurates 2nd phase of ‘Assam Darshan Scheme’
Nov. 12: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday launched the second phase of the ‘Asom Darshan’ scheme. In a programme held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati, the scheme was launched by the Chief Minister in the presence of Cabinet minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, MLA Keshav Mahanta as well as around more than 300 saints from across the state.
Taking to his twitter handle, CM Sonowal wrote, “Glad to ceremonially hand over financial assistance to 377 religious institutions of Assam under the 2nd phase of #AsomDarshan scheme in Guwahati. These religious places with historical importance were provided a total of ₹ 37.70 crore in this phase.”

The scheme was 1st launched in the state by the Assam government in 2019-20 in order to preserve the culture & heritage of places possessing historical and religious significance. Around 915 religious places including Temples, Satras, Churches and Masjids were given approval letters in the first phase.
