CM attends inaugural programme of golden jubilee celebration of Agradoot newspaper

“Agradoot” is an asset of the Assamese society: CM

July 7: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today attended the inaugural function of yearlong celebration of golden jubilee of the leading Assamese newspaper “Agradoot”, which was inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a programme held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma congratulated the founder editor of the newspaper and noted journalist Kanaksen Deka and all those associated with the newspaper. Dr. Sarma said that Kanaksen Deka while taking journalism as a service for life, with his relentless contributions during last 50 years has transformed Agradoot as an asset of the Assamese society.

The Chief Minister said that renowned journalist Kanaksen Deka is a true patriot and with his unwavering commitment he has led to an intellectual awakening against ULFA’s concept of independent Assam ignoring the threats to his life. Kanaksen Deka through his writings highlighted that Assam is an integral part of India and he took that nationalistic thought among the young generation through his books. The eminent editor always stressed the importance of work culture and economic movement to take Assam forward, the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister also thanked Prime Minister Modi for gracing the golden jubilee celebration. He also wished Agradoot to continue enriching the Assamese society in the days to come.

Alongwith editor and noted writer Kanaksen Deka, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, Water Resources and I&PR Minister Pijush Hazarika, renowned academician and president of the golden jubilee celebration committee Dr. Dayananda Pathak and host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
