CM Assam wishes former MP Kabindra Purkayastha on his 92nd birthday

way2barak, Dec.15: Veteran leader and the 1st person to become Member of Parliament (MP) from Assam BJP, Kabindra Purkayastha has turned 92. He served as a cabinet minister during the Prime Ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

On this day, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet wished the patriarch of Northeast BJP family. He wrote, “Warm birthday wishes to former Union Minister and the first @BJP4Assam MP Shri Kabindra Purkayastha ji. We have been enriched by your wisdom and experience in public service. I pray to Maa Kamakhya & Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev to bestow you with good health and a long life.”

Meanwhile, during the day, Cachar District BJP also celebrated the birthday of this veteran leader in their party office in the presence of State BJP President Bhabesh Kalita. Also present during the occasion were Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, MLA Udharbond Mihir Kanti Shome, BJP district President among others. In his speech, Bhabesh Kalita spoke at length the contribution of Kabindra Purkayastha towards the rise of BJP in Northeast India.
