CM Assam visits Srirampur & Sagolia border corridors to review Covid management
May 25: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma on Tuesday visited the Assam-West Bengal interstate border to review Covid management. He went to Srirampur and Sagolia border corridors. The Chief Minister during his visit was accompanied by Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, BTR Chief Pramod Bodo, Commissioner of Dhubri, Superintendent of Police, Joint Director of Health Services. He also held a review meet there.
The Chief Minister said, “Inter-state movement poses a challenge for administration given the risks of spread of infections. We advised testing, caution & vigilance.” In a tweet, the CM wrote, “Sagolia is an important border corridor of Assam. The success of our fight against #Covid also depends on management of this border including transportation of passengers & goods. Today visited the border with Min @keshab_mahanta & CEM BTC Pramod Boro & to review arrangements.”
I also reviewed the data of incoming vehicles at Srirampur inter-state check point and directed the district admin and health dept to ensure #Covid testing and strict isolation of positive cases. The Chief Minister visited the test centers set up there and understood the measures taken for the drivers and passengers of vehicles entering Assam from other states. Since 24 April till morning of 25 May, the Rapid Antigen Test of 14,306 people who entered Assam with 3,834 vehicles has been completed. Of this, 528 people were detected as Covid-19 positive.
