CM Assam urges state govt employees to spend quality time with parents/in-laws on 6 & 7 Jan

Jan. 2: “I urge Assam Govt employees to spend quality time with their parents/in-laws on Jan 6 & 7, 2022 designated as special holidays. I request them to rededicate themselves to the cause of building a New Assam & New India with blessings of their parents.” This was stated in a tweet on Sunday by state Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. He further stated that the employees who will avail this special leave shall have toupload photographs with their parents/ in-laws in a dedicate website, which will be declared by the state government later on.
The Governor of Assam has issued a notification on 7 December to allow State Government employees to avail Casual Leave on 6 and 7 January, 2022 suffixing the two holidays, the 8th and 9th January, 2022, being second Saturday and Sunday, so as to enable them to spend the aforesaid days with their living parents and parents in laws.
Further, state education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu on Sunday tweeted, “Teachers working remotely will also receive extra casual leave to spend time with their parents on January 6th and 7th.”

In continuation of this notification, the state government on 30 December, 2021 issued another notification. As per the notification, the employees of the State Government who are engaged in essential services like Police, Fire & Emergency Services, Disaster Management, Health & Family Welfare etc. shall also be allowed to avail of 2 days Casual leave to spend with their living parents and parents in-law in a phased manner during the months of January, February, March and April as decided by the concerned Heads of the Department.
The notification further stated that one-fourth of the employees of these Departments may be allowed to avail of the above facility each month by the respective Departments, so that the essential public services are not hampered. All the employees who avail the Casual leave for the said purpose shall ensure that they spend the Holidays with their living parents and parents in-law. The appropriate photographs are to be uploaded in the dedicated portal. which will be made functional shortly. It was further stated that the utilization of the said Holidays for purposes other than the one specified. will be viewed seriously.
