CM Assam gives cheque of financial assistance to those who lost both parents due to Covid
June 10: On completion of a month of Assam Government on Thursday, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over cheques of financial assistance to beneficiaries who lost both parents due to Covid, under Chief Minister Shishu Seva scheme, announced on 29 May. Under the scheme Rs 7,81,200 would be parked in bank as fixed deposits in name of each beneficiary. A monthly financial assistance of Rs 3500 which will be realised from the FD will be given to the beneficiaries till they attain 24 years of age.
On completion of 24 years of age, the principal amount parked as FD against each beneficiary would be credited to their bank accounts. The scheme would help in enabling the beneficiaries to lead a life of dignity in spite of pecuniary hardship that they may face. State govt would give Rs 3500 per month per child including Central govt support of Rs 2000. For children below 10 years and adolescent girls with no guardian, State will take steps to house such children in one of the child care institutions.

Considering the marriage component of the scheme, State government will extend one-time financial package as marriage assistance. Government will give one tola of gold under Arundhati scheme and an amount of Rs. 50,000 to each girl. State Govt would give Rs 2.5 lakh one-time financial assitance from CM Relief Fund to women who lost their husbands due to COVID. Besides, such widows will also be entitled to benefits of Orunodoi scheme along with monthly widow pension.
