CM Assam directs DCs to ensure management of critical Covid patients even at late night

1 ADC in each district to be entrusted the responsibility of vaccine centers: Chief Minister

May 16: Often it was reported that many a times, Covid-19 patients who went to hospitals for admission at odd hours, particularly at late night had to face problems. Often, such patients were denied admission at late night by the staff citing multifarious problems in doing so. In some other cases, late night management of critical Covid patients assumed great difficulties. To overcome such difficulties, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma  directed the Deputy Commissioners of the districts “to regularly visit District Hospitals from today and ensure efficient odd hour management of critical Covid patients even late in the night.”

ImageThe Chief Minister held a video conference with the Deputy Commissioners of the districts in Assam on Sunday to review the prevailing Covid status. Taking to his twitter handle during the day, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Today I reviewed the #Covid19 status, preparedness & enforcement with DCs and SPs through VC. I directed DCs to regularly visit District Hospitals from today and ensure efficient odd hour management of critical Covid patients even late in the night.”

The issue of complaints regarding mismanagement in many vaccination centres also came up for discussion during the video conferencing. In this connection, the Chief Minister said, “I asked to entrust one ADC in each district with responsibility of vaccine centers.”

During the video Conference, Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma further directed the Superintendent of Police in each district of the state to enforce stringent restrictions to contain the pandemic while, ensuring containment zone regulations. “In this time of distress we must give best service with a humane heart,” added the Chief Minister.

Present during the video conference were state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, DGP along with top officials of health department and others from general administration.
