Bullet embedded in leg of SP Cachar & is in ICU, his PSO killed; 50 more injured

ওয়েটুবরাক, ২৬ জুলাই : মিজোরাম পুলিশ ও মিজো দুষ্কৃতীদের যৌথ হামলায় নিহতদের মধ্যে রয়েছেন একজন সাব-ইন্সপেক্টরও৷ তাঁর নাম স্বপন কুমার রায়৷ প্রয়াত হয়েছেন পুলিশ সুপার বৈভব নিম্বলকরের দেহরক্ষী কনস্টেবল লিটন শুক্লবৈদ্যও৷ গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়ে প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন আরও তিন কনস্টেবল এম এইচ বড়ভুইয়া, এন হোসেন এবং এস বড়ভুইয়া৷

আসাম পুলিশের প্রেসবার্তায় জানানো হয়েছে, প্রথমদিকে ৬জনের মৃত্যুর কথা জানা গেলেও আসলে মারা গিয়েছেন আসাম পুলিশের ৫ জওয়ান৷ পায়ে গুলি লেগেছে পুলিশ সুপার নিম্বলকরর৷ তিনি বর্তমানে শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজের আইসিইউতে চিকিৎসাধীন৷

July 26: Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Vaibhav Nimbalkar sustained bullet injuries during the firing by Mizoram forces on Monday at Lailapur in Assam- Mizoram border. SP Cachar still has a bullet embedded in his leg and is in the ICU at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). As per reports, one of his Personal Security Officer (PSO) lost his life in the attack by the Mizo forces.

In a press release issued by the Assam government, it was stated, “It is with a heavy heart that we are constrained to note that what is being termed by the Mizoram side as an intrusion and aggression by Assam, has left 5 Assam Police personnel confirmed dead and more than 50 injured, including SP Cachar. (6 as per initial reports, which is being confirmed).” The deceased were identified as:

  • Sub Inspector Swapan Kr Roy
  • Cn Liton Suklabaidya (PSO of SP)
  • Cn M.H. Barbhuyia
  • Cn N Hussain
  • Cn S Barbhuiya

Meanwhile, Minister Pijush Hazarika on the direction of Assam chief Minister has arrived here and went to see the injured at SMCH. Taking to his twitter handle, Pijush Hazarika wrote, “On the directions of HCM @ himantabiswa Sir, I reached SMCH to enquire about the status of the brave police personnel who were injured during the incident, to pray for the souls of the 5 brave Assam police jawans who were killed and to review the situation with the administration.”

Further, the Mizo miscreants at Lailapur pelted stones on the Assam officials and destroyed three vehicles including the car of Deputy Commissioner of Cachar.
