Circle officer in Sonitpur arrested by Vigilance Cell for involving in corruption

Oct. 3: A team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, arrested a circle officer who had instructed a Lat Mandal to demand bribe from individuals allegedly involved in illegal land dealings.The accused was identified as Barenya Ranjan Barthakur, ALRS (Assam Land and Revenue Service) posted as Circle Officer of Thelamara in Sonitpur.  He was nabbed from Kahilipara in Guwahati on Saturday afternoon. Earlier, another official, Gulzar Hussain was also apprehended from Thelamara Revenue Circle.
