Cheques handed over to policemen & civilians injured during violence unleashed by Mizo forces

July 28: “The government is having a sense of responsibility towards the men in uniform who guards our people. They got injured at the line of duty in Assam- Mizoram border. The Chief Minister upon his visit to Silchar on Tuesday announced that as a token of responsibility and appreciation towards the dedication of the injured policemen, an amount of Rs 1 lakh each will be given within 24 hours. I am satisfied that as a guardian minister, I am handing over the cheques to the kin of the injured,” said Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal on Wednesday.

Ashok Singhal, the Minister for Guwahati Development Department and Urban Development also happens to be the guardian minister of Cachar district was in the town on Tuesday, when Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma came and paid his tribute to the 5 deceased Assam Police personnel.

Minister Singhal stayed back in the night and on Wednesday also paid his tribute to Constable Shyamaprasad Dusat, who succumbed to his bullet injury at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The ceremonial honour to the deceased martyr Shyamaprasad Dusat was paid at the premises of the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Cachar in the presence of Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy.

No description available.Guardian Minister Ashok Singhal in the presence of his cabinet colleague Parimal Suklabaidya, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli and MP Dr Rajdeep Roy went to SMCH on Wednesday to meet the injured police personnel in the brutal attack perpetrated upon them by Mizo forces on Monday.

There at SMCH, 33 injured policemen and 9 civilians were handed over cheques of Rs 1 lakh each and fruit boxes. Later on, interacting with the media, guardian minister Ashok Singal said, “As per the assurance of the Chief Minister, we have handed over the cheques to the injured policemen and civilians within the fastest possible time. Those critical policemen were already sent by air ambulance to Guwahati for better treatment and if required, we may even send them to other parts of the country. We will do our level best for the injured police personnel who have faced the bullets protecting the constitutional territory of Assam.”

Additional Deputy Commissioner,Cachar, Health, Eldrad Faheirm, Chairman Cachar Zilla Parishad, Amitabh Rai, Assistant Commissioner, Eva Das and Assistant Engineer, Cachar Zilla Parishad were present during the cheque distribution ceremony at SMCH.
