Change of guard in BTC, Promod Boro takes oath as CEM
Dec. 15: United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) President Pramod Boro took charge as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Assam on Tuesday. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Convenor & Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other dignitories were present during the swearing-in ceremony which tool place at Greenfield, Bodofa Nagar in Kokrajhar.
During the day, apart from Promod Boro, four other executive members, one from UPPL, two from the BJP and one from GSP was took the oath, which was administered by Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua. In his address, CM Sonowal congratulated BJP workers for the win in BTC and indicated that the new tie-up with UPPL and GSP will continue in the assembly polls as well. Further, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced setting up of 40 new colleges, 40 stadiums and a medical college in the area soon.

The new council has been formed with the support of BJP, UPPL and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP). The UPPL won 12 seats in the 40-member council.
Taking to his Facebook Page just after the swearing-in ceremony, Promod Boro wrote, “Thank you everyone for entrusting tremendous faith and believe in me. This is a new beginning for all of us and BTR. And I promise to work hard for the betterment and development of all sections of our society.”
