Central ministers enjoy at the expenses of State’s money, alleges Meghalaya MLA
November 28: Meghalaya Congress MLA HM Shangpliang has launched a sharp criticism of the BJP-led Union Ministers frequent visits to the state. Taking a dig at the ‘Act East Policy’ of the present government, Shangpliang said that it has now become ‘Visit East Policy.’
“The central ministers stay at good hotels and enjoy their picnics, while the state governments pay their bills,” said the legislator HM Shangpliang. He argued that the ‘Look East Policy’ introduced by the erstwhile Congress government was turned into ‘Act East Policy’ under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The same has now become ‘Visit East Policy.’ He said that all the expenditure of the hospitality of the Union ministers were met up by the state from its own exchequer.
On the face of it, BJP has replied that for correct implementation of any government policy, it is essential for the ministers to visit different states and take stock of the ground reality. The BJP further criticised that the ‘Look East Policy’ introduced by the Congress was an inactive one and the need of the hour was to act. This is exactly what the present Union government is doing.
