Cases rising rapidly in Assam, Himanta holds video conference with DCs & SPs
May 20: The number of coronavirus cases has been on the spike. On Tuesday alone, 42 COVID-19 cases were reported from the state, whereas on Wednesday, 28 positive cases were reported. That means, in a span of 40 hours, 70 persons were tested COVID-19 positive in Assam.
It is in this backdrop that State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma held a video conference with the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police of all the districts of Assam. Sharing this information, State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Held a VC with DCs and SPs to discuss about incentivizing people to ensure they adhere to the quarantine norms, including those in self isolation. In view of the rapidly rising cases, advised them for stepping up measures on containment & quarantine.”

As of now, 185 persons were infected with COVID-19 in the state. Out of 185 patients, 48 of them recovered, 04 died and 03 are migrated cases. At present, there are 130 active cases in Assam.
