Cachar youth arrested in Bengaluru on charges of attempting to join Al-Qaeda
July 27: In a sensational incident, a youth from Katigorah constituency in Cachar district was arrested from Bengaluru on charges of attempting to join terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda. The youth has been identified as Akhtar Hussain.
As per reports, Akhtar Hussain went to Bengaluru around 2018. His father Late Abdul Quadir Laskar was GP President of Rajartilla. His widow mother during the recent flood has left her house and is now staying at her relative’s place. She is still in the dark about the arrest of her son. She knows that her son Akhtar works at Zomato.
Speaking to the media, Akhtar Hussain’s elder brother Amir Hussain Laskar said, “Till now we have not got any detailed information. We have just come to know that that on last Saturday night, he was arrested by the police. He worked as a food delivery boy in Bangaluru since 2018. Prior to that, Akhtar studied till HS 1st year over here at Katigorah. However, as the financial condition of the house was not sound, so he left studies and went in search of work. My younger most brother also went to Bengaluru for work 6 months ago.”
Amir Hussain Laskar was unwilling to believe that his brother was about to join Al-Qaeda. “The arrest of my brother seems to be a conspiracy. Though I don’t know exactly, but what I doubt is that he might have made some comments in social media which have led to his arrest.”
Meanwhile, when contacted, SP Cachar, Ramandeep Kaur said that at this moment for the sake of investigation nothing could be said.
