Cachar Police seizes drugs worth ₹ 6 lakh from Tarapur, 1 lady detained
July 6: On the basis of a tip-off, Cachar Police seized drugs worth around Rs.6 lakh from a residence at Jogesh Road at Tarapur, Silchar. Led by DSP Headquarters Bhargava Goswami and Officer in Charge, Silchar Police Station Ditumani Goswami a team raided a house at Jogesh Road. The sniffer dog of the police played a major role in this raid. The sudden raid by the police forces in a residential area of Silchar town came as a surprise to the people.
The Cachar Police team was successful in their raid and recovered 174 gms of suspected heroin along with 185 small plastic containers, a manual weighing scale, 30 nos of suspected narcotic capsules and Rs 850 in cash. A suspected female drug peddler who goes by the surname Chakraborty was also detained by the police for interrogation. The drugs seized during the raid is learnt to be worth around Rs. 6 lakh. Accordingly a case has been registered at Silchar Police Station and further investigation is on.
