1st ever ‘Made in India’ Dornier 228 aircraft starts commercial operations from Assam to Arunachal Pradesh

April 12: The first ever ‘Made in India’ Dornier 228 aircraft started its commercial civil aviation operations from today. This will now provide air connectivity to five remote towns of Arunachal Pradesh and further boost air connectivity of Northeastern Region with the rest of India. From April 18, the line connecting Dibrugarh with Pasighat and Lilabari (Assam) will run twice a week. Officials claim that the aircraft is capable of both day and night operations.

Taking to his twitter handle, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote, “Overjoyed and proud to embark on the 17 seater Made-in-India Dornier 228 aircraft – in its first ever maiden service to Arunachal Pradesh! Jai ho!.” He was accompanied in the first flight by Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Law and Justice.
