Cachar Police imposes fine of ₹1,75,000 for not wearing masks

June 24: In a drive against violation of Motor Vehicles Act and for not wearing masks, Cachar Police levied penalties worth 1,75,000. In a recent tweet, Cachar Police stated that their drive will continue further. The twitter message further carried an appeal from the police department. The tweet stated, “Plz adhere to social distancing norms and wear masks. Also wearing of helmets by those on two-wheelers is a must.”

It needs mention here that on 23 June, Additional District Magistrate of Cachar issued an order, according to which, 4 Executive Magistrates were deputed to carry out extensive drive in Silchar town and adjoining areas to detect persons moving around without wearing masks. They were further asked to impose spot fines upon the violators. The 4 Magistrates entrusted for this task are Abhilasj Baranwal, Vibhor Agarwal, Deepjyoti Gogoi and Maria Tanim.
