Cachar Police announces traffic plan to be followed in Silchar during Durga Puja 2021

Oct. 9: Silchar Traffic Police has come up with a set of traffic control plan to be followed in te town during the ensuing Durga Puja Festival. From 9 AM onwards, no heavy or medium trucks shall be allowed to enter into Silchar town from 12 October to 15 October until further orders. Moreover, from 9 Am on these specified days, all sorts of small, large, medium bus, small commercial passenger vehicles; vehicles of army, CRPF, BRTF will not be allowed to ply in Silchar Municipal area until further notice.

Buses run by Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram state govt and also private delux/ super buses will ply from Ramnagar, Jangiana, Rongpur and Raigarh after 9 AM. All passenger vehicles which ply in the route of Karimganj and Hailakandi will operate from Ramnagar. Similarly, all commercial vehicles of Lakhipur, Udharbond and Manipur will run from Ramkrishna Filling Pump. Vehicles of Sonai and Mizoram will operate from jangiana point. Vehicles of Mashimpur will run from Tarapur Raigarh, and vehicles bound for Dwarbond will ply from Kathal point.

All rickshaws and auto-rickshaws within Silchar Municipal area will be stationed outside the Municipal area of Silchar in temporary stand. Vehicles travelling towards Rangirkhari from Malugram or Trunk road will reach there through Club Road, Dak Bungalow point, Municipality Office, Janiganj, Dewanji Bazar and Premtola.

Further light vehicles coming from Rangirkhari may proceed towards Tarapur through Premtola, Sillongpatty, DIG office, DC Residence, SBI Main branch. Such vehicles from Rangirkhari can also go via Park Road or Club Road and proceed towards Malugram or Sadarghat. Again, vehicles from Rangirkhari can also ply via Park Road, Club Road and Dak Bungalow point and reach Janiganj, Dewanji Bazar or Premtola.

Vehicles from Chamra Gudam, Bilpar can move through Kali Bari and proceed towards Dewanji Bazar. There will be complete ‘No Entry’ at Public School Road near erstwhile Gopinath Cinema Hall. Moreover, no vehicles from Janiganj can move towards Ukilpatty or Tulapatty. However, vehicles coming from near Circuit House Road can go to Malugram through Dak Bungalow point or Janiganj. Light vehicles coming from Tarapur may proceed towards Janiganj through India Club point, Trunk Road, Capital point. Light vehicles from Tarapur may also ply through Assam Rifles, Road, Shillongpatty, Park Road, Annapurna point and Devdoot Cinema Hall. No vehicles from Hospital Road can move towards Chencoorie.

During the 3 days of Durga Puja, 1st Link Road will be earmarked as ‘one way’ from 2 PM onwards. All vehicles may enter Link Road via Sonai Road and proceed towards Hailakandi Road. Apart from this, Lochan Bairagi Road (Radhamadhab Road) will be treated as ‘No Entry Zone’ from 2 PM onwards.

Light vehicles coming from Karimganj or Hailakandi can enter through National highway and pass via Chittaranjan Avenue and enter Silchar town area. Visitors coming for viewing Durga Puja pandals can park their vehicles at ASTC Flag Station and DSA Bus Stand. Light vehicles can only be parked at the earmarked parking slots.

Apart from this, the road from India Club Point to Tarapur E & D Colony will be treated as ‘One Way’. From 9 AM, no vehicles can ply between E & D Colony Point to India Club Point. Tinted glass in vehicles will remain prohibited.

From 12 October to 2 PM of 15 October, no rickshaw or hand cart (thela) will be allowed to ply in the following routes:

• Rangirkhari point to Premtola
• Via Dewanji Bazar, Tulapatty to Annapurna point
• From Premtola point to Ullaskar Dutta Sarani
• From Shillongpatty to DIG office point
• From Dewanji Bazar point via Thana point to Janiganj- Tulapatty point, Treasury office point
• From India Club point via Tarapur to E & D Colony point
• No rickshaw can cross Barak bridge from Rongpur and enter Silchar town from 10 AM onwards.

Idol Immersion:

• No vehicles can ply on the date of idol immersion on 15 October from 12 noon in Silchar Municipal area till further notice.
• Vehicles with idols for immersion from Rangirkhari will proceed towards Immersion ghat through Premtola, Nazirpatty, Central road, Dak Bungalow point.
• After idol immersion, the vehicles in which idols were brought will return back through the road near Silchar Municipal Board.

• Vehicles carrying idols from Tarapur will proceed towards the immersion ghat through DIG Bungalow point, Shillongpatty, Premtola.
• From Rongpur area, vehicles carrying idols will move towards Airlines Point, Club Road, Dak Bungalow point and reach the immersion ghat.
• However, these restrictions will not be applicable for Fire Brigade, Medical vans, Water Supply vehicles and on-duty vehicles of Magistrates or police.
