স্বামীহারা ১১ জনকে আড়াই লক্ষের চেক দিলেন মন্ত্রী সিংহল

৩১ জুলাই : কাছাড় জেলার অভিভাবক মন্ত্রী অশোক সিংহল কোভিডে স্বামীহারা ১১ জনকে আড়াই লক্ষ টাকা করে চেক তুলে দিয়েছেন। শনিবার জেলাশাসকের সভাকক্ষে আয়োজিত এক অনুষ্ঠানে এই অর্থ তুলে দেওয়া হয়।

এই উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে মন্ত্রী সিংহল জানান, কোভিডে স্বামীহারানোদের জন্য সারা দেশের মধ্যে কেবল আসামেই এ ধরনের প্রকল্প শুরু করা হয়েছে। মন্ত্রী বলেন, কোভিডে মা-বাবা হারানো ছেলেমেয়েদের জন্যও সরকার থেকে সাড়ে ৭ লক্ষ টাকা জমা রেখে এ থেকে মাসে তিন হাজার টাকার আয়ের বন্দোবস্ত করা হয়েছে। এই টাকা দিয়ে অনাথ শিশুদের পড়াশোনার খরচ চালানো হবে। ২৪ বছর পর অনাথদের হাতে এই অর্থ ফিরিয়ে দেওয়া হবে বলে জানান মন্ত্রী।

অনুষ্ঠানে জেলা বিপর্যয় মোকাবিলা কর্তৃপক্ষের সিইও জেআর লালসিম জানান, জেলার মোট ১৭ জনকে আড়াই লক্ষ টাকা করে দেওয়া হবে। তিনজন না আসায় ১৪ জনকে তুলে দেওয়া হচ্ছে।

July 31: Guardian Minister for Cachar and Guwahati Development Department & Urban Development Department, Ashok Singhal and MLA Lakhipur, Koushik Rai ceremonially handed over cheques for Rs.2.5 lakh each to the 14 beneficiaries at a function organised by the District Administration, Cachar at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Singhal said, “Chief Minister’s COVID-19 Widows’ Support Scheme is a great initiative taken by the state government which aimed at providing social and financial security to the women who lost their husbands in the coronavirus pandemic. This unique project has been launched only in Assam and this initiative was taken by our Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to extend financial support to the widows who lost their husbands due to coronavirus disease.”

“Our Government led by Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma has also fixed an amount of Rs.7.5 lakh for the children who have lost their parents due to COVID and from this fixed amount they can earn Rs.3,000 per month. This money will be used for the education of the orphans. The money will be returned to the orphans after 24 years,” Singhal quipped.

CEO of the District Disaster Management Authority, JR Lalsim, said a total of 17 beneficiaries in the district would be given Rs 2.5 lakh each as one-time financial assistance. She stated that three beneficiaries didn’t turn up and a total of 14 numbers of beneficiaries were given financial assistance. It may be mentioned that under Chief Minister’s COVID-19 Widows’ Support Scheme, a one- time assistance of Rs.2.5 lakh each is given to such women whose family income is less than Rs.5 lakh.
