Cachar DC takes proactive steps towards issuance of new ration cards including NRC-affected beneficiaries
Way2barak, October 3 : In a significant move to address the concerns of ration card beneficiaries affected by the complexities of the NRC updation process, Mridul Yadav, District Commissioner of Cachar, chaired a crucial meeting at the new conference hall of DC’S office here on thursday.
The focus of the meeting was to devise a comprehensive framework for issuing new ration cards, ensuring that beneficiaries who were inadvertently excluded due to complications in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) process receive their entitlements.
As per directives from the Government of Assam, the meeting emphasized the swift and efficient resolution of these issues to prevent any further delay in providing essential services to the affected individuals.
The deliberations saw active participation from key stakeholders, including the MLA Udharbond, Mihir Kanti Shome, and MLA Katigorah, Khalil Uddin Mazumder.
Dr. Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, Additional District Commissioner (FPD&CA), Cachar, played a pivotal role in outlining the procedural steps to expedite the process. Dhrubajyoti Pathak, Circle Development Commissioner, Lakhipur Co-District, along with Block Development Officers, revenue officials, municipal board representatives, and social workers, also contributed to the discussions, bringing in perspectives from their respective domains.
This proactive initiative by the Cachar district administration aims to restore the benefits to rightful recipients, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the distribution system. The district commissioner’s approach has been widely appreciated for its inclusivity and commitment to public welfare.
Officials from the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department pledged full cooperation to expedite the process, while local social workers ensured community outreach and awareness for affected beneficiaries.
With the active involvement of all concerned departments, this initiative marks a significant step forward in streamlining public welfare services in Cachar, reinforcing the district administration’s dedication to serving the people.
