Bypoll for a Rajya Sabha seat to be held on 1 March in Assam

Feb. 4: Biswajit Daimary of the Bodoland People’s Front in Assam had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in November 2020. Since then, he vacated his Rajya Sabha seat. Meanwhile, Election Commission of India (ECI) has declared that the by-poll for the vacant seat of Rajya Sabha will be held on 1 March. The last date for filing nomination is 18 February.
