BVP Dakshin Silchar organises cultural programme online to commemorate 75th Independence Day
Aug. 18: A cultural programme was organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Dakshin Silchar Branch in virtual mode to commemorate the 75th Independence Day on August 15. The programme began with a dance on national song “Vandematram” performed by Mayurakshi Patoa. Dr Darshana Patoa, Secretary of Dakshin Silchar branch idelivered the welcome speech. Dr Patoa in her speech paid tribute to the martyrs remembering their valour and sacrifices for the independence of India. Vice president of BVP Assam Prant, Barun Sen graced the occasion and delivered his speech on the auspicious occasion.
In the programme, dance, song and recitation were performed by Mayurakshi Patoa, Shatadeepa Purkayastha, Susmita Acharjee Deb Roy, Dr Sujata Dutta Gupta, Tania Raha, Siddhartha Sankar Chakraborty, Ditipriya Chakraborty and Dr Himadri Shekhar Das. Dr Kingshuk Adhikari, Treasurer of BVP Dakshin, Silchar and Biswaraj Chakraborty, Additional Secretary, extended their efforts and wholehearted support to make the programme a grand success. Ila Das, a member of BVP also supported them.
Prof.Niranjan Roy, President of Dakshin Silchar in his presidential address highlighted the toil and long struggle of freedom fighters to make India free from British Rule. Prof Roy also added that everyone in the county must come out of the conflicts occurring at present and march towards the zenith of development as it would only make independence an apt for the nation. Dr Sujata Dutta Gupta, Joint Coordinator, conveyed the vote of thanks . The programme was conducted by Paromita Das Choudhury, Coordinator cultural related activities. The programme ended with rendition of the National Anthem.
