Businessman Shyamal Bhuiya from Premtola, Silchar dies of post-Covid complications
May 21: After battling for 32 days, first at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) and finally at Green Heals Hospital, Silchar, Shyamal Bhuiya (Piklu) breathed his last around 4.30 PM on Friday. He was 60. Businessman Shymal Bhuiya was a resident of Premtola, Silchar. He is the owner of Kamal’s Electronics at Premtola, a one-point audio cassette store during the 90’s, which at present has been converted into a mobile store. He operates another mobile store at Light House, opposite Goldighi Mall. Recently, the store at Light House was converted to an imitation jewellery store ‘Alaankara.’
In April, 2021, the entire family of Shyamal Bhuiyan were detected as Covid-19 positive. While he and his wife Advocate Debjani Bhuiya got admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), his son and daughter were in home isolation. He was also admitted at ICU and put in ventilation when his oxygen went down drastically. But after a few days, his condition improved and he was put out of ventilation. Meanwhile, he and his wife became Covid negative.
Shymal Bhuiya was then transferred to Non-Covid ICU at SMCH where he was undergoing treatment. Finally, a few days ago, he was transferred at Green Heals Pvt Hospital in Silchar for better specific treatment due to post-Covid complications. On Friday morning, his condition deteriorated. Finally, after fighting the illness for 32 days, Shymal Bhuiya (60) breathed his last on Friday afternoon.
Shymal Bhuiya is survived by his wife, Advocate Debjani Bhuiya, a daughter who is a B.Com student and a son who presently was doing business with him. His death has cast a spell of gloom. Condolences has started to pour in from various quarters. He was also an integral part of Shyama Prasad Road Durga Puja Committee. As per sources, his last rites will be performed on Saturday.
