Bricks hurled at BJP chief JP Nadda’s convoy in Bengal, Vijayvargiya’s car badly damaged
Dec. 10: The convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Jagat Prakash Nadda in Kolkata was attacked on Thursday. Stones and bricks were pelted on the vehicles by the miscreants at the cavalcade. As a result, BJP’s national General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s car was left severely damaged. BJP alleged that some of its leaders were also injured in the attack. BJP further alleged that the act of hooliganism was done by TMC supporters.
Nadda’s convoy came under attack at around 12 noon on Thursday when he was on way to Diamond Harbour to address a meeting of party workers. Speaking to the media, JP Nadda said, “Mukul Roy and Kailash Vijayvargiya were injured in the attack today. It is a shame on democracy. There isn’t a car in our convoy which was not attacked. I am safe because I was travelling in a bulletproof car. This state of lawlessness and intolerance in West Bengal has to end.”

He further said that when such a thing can happen to senior leaders of the BJP, the plight of common party cadres can be easily imagined. Without naming Abhishek Banerjee, Nadda referred to him and said it is a matter of shame for democracy that the present MP of Diamond Harbour is not seen in his constituency.
Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered an inquiry into the matter and has asked the West Bengal government about the alleged security negligence. BJP chief Nadda is in Kolkata for a two-day visit to West Bengal.
