Booster dose for 60+ kick starts in Cachar with administering 1st dose to Prof Tapodhir Bhattacharjee

Jan. 10: The ceremonial inauguration of precautionary booster dose of Covid vaccine for health care workers, frontline workers and people with comorbidities who have attained 60 years of age kick started on Monday in Cachar district along with the rest of the country. In Cachar, the ceremonial inauguration of the precautionary dose for these categories took place at SM Dev Civil Hospital.

Prof. Tapodhir Bhattacharjee, former Vice Chancellor of Assam University was administered the 1st booster dose in the 60 plus category with comorbidities at the SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar. As per the district health department, Cachar, a total of 2,89,196 persons will be administered this precautionary dose.

A health official stated, “The booster dose will be provided to 23,109 health care workers, 41,215 frontline workers and 2,24,872 senior citizens (60+) with comorbidities.” It needs mention here that only those health care and frontline workers who have availed the 2nd dose will be provided this precautionary dose.

District Health officials further stated that those who were recently infected with Covid-19 should take the 2nd dose only after 3 months from the date of getting recovered. Only those who have taken the 2nd dose 39 weeks ago (60+ with comorbidities) or before 11 April, 2021 will be eligible for the precautionary dose.
