Blue Flowers HS School issued show cause notice for letting minor students participate in road blockade

July 10: The pathetic road condition leading to their educational institution led the students of Blue Flowers English Medium Higher Secondary School, Hailakandi to resort to agitation by organising road blockade on 9 July, 2019. It is in this regard that the Hailakandi district administration has served show cause notice to Blue Flowers English Medium HS School for allowing minor children to take part in the road blockade.

The students of Blue Flowers English Medium Higher Secondary School on Tuesday blocked the Rabindra Sarani road of Hailakandi town demanding immediate repairing of the road leading to their school. Photographs of students participating in the road blockade was also uploaded by the school in their official Facebook page with the caption: “Road Blockade by the students of Blue Flowers English Medium Higher Secondary School as the road near the school is in a very pathetic condition.”

Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi has served show cause notice to the principal of the school to explain as to why stern action should not be initiated against him for allowing a large number of minor school students in uniform to resort to road blockade in gross violation of the Right to Education Act 2009 and other existing laws. Further, school authorities have been given 48 hours time to reply to the show cause failing which stern action would be initiated that include cancellation of permission to run the school.

Apart from the show cause notice, the district administration on Tuesday also filed an FIR against the Principal of Blue Flowers English Medium Higher Secondary School, Hailakandi for violation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

Meanwhile, the road blockade by the students on 9 July,2019 saw the arrival of the Executive Engineer of PWD Hailakandi at the spot of demonstration. He gave a written assurance to the students that the work of repairing the road will be done by 31 July. It was further stated by the Executive Engineer that the work order for the road has been allotted to Satyam Enterprise, Silchar and he will ask them to complete the work at the earliest.
