Black Day observed by Thousand Sayantans as against brutalities of Mizo forces

July 30: The barbaric attack upon Assam Police personnel by Mizo forces and goons has been strongly resented by the people of Assam. Thousand Sayantans too joined the series of protests in Silchar on Friday. As a symbolic protest, the members of this group wore black badges throughout the day. Later during the day, they lighted candles at the pedestal of Khudiram statue and observed silence in memory of the six Assam Police personnel who laid down their lives at Lailapur in Assam- Mizoram border while protecting the constitutional territory of Assam. Mizoram Police fired bullets treacherously upon the Assam Police killing 6 of its jawans and injuring around 40 more policemen including the SP of Cachar.

Expressing their views, Thousand Sayantans said, “We are saddened and angry by the brutal incident that took place on the Assam- Mizoram border on 26 July, 2021. We stand in solidarity of our state police forces.”
