BJP announces list of candidates for bypoll in Bhabanipur, Mariani & Thowra

Oct. 4: The Election Commission of India has announced that the by-election to the three assembly constituencies in Assam will take place on 30 October and the counting of votes will take place on 2 November. It is in this connection that the BJP on Monday released the candidates’ list for the forthcoming by-elections scheduled to be held on October 30.

Former AIUDF MLA who shifted to BJP last month, Phani Talukdar will contest in Bhapanipur constituency of Kokrajhar district. Four-time MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi who joined BJP from the Congress will contest from Mariani. Sushanta Borgohain who too left the Congress and joined the BJP will fight the bypolls from the Thowra constituency in Jorhat..
