Biggest spike: With 146 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 370 on 12 May

Active cases cross 1000 mark & reaches 1009 in Cachar

May 12: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Wednesday at 11 PM. As per the latest data, 146 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 370 persons were found positive in the district on 12 May. Earlier, at 6.00 PM, it was informed that 224 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has crossed the 1000 mark & reached 1009 . It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Tuesday was 262. As per records, 370 positive cases in a day is the highest single day spike of Covid cases in Cachar district since the outbreak of the pandemic.

As per the updated data, a total of 2,174 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 206 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 164 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Wednesday night. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 3,303 in 2021, whereas during the year, 2,271 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed informed that out of the 1009 active patients:

  • 230 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 04 in MH
  • 16 at SMDCH
  • 30 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 19 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 26 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 12 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 672 patients are in home isolation.

Wednesday witnessed demise of three more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). However, none of them were from Cachar district. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 3 deceased at SMCH on 12 May, 2 are from Karimganj district, while 01 is from Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as: Md Nazim Uddin Barbhuiyan (69) from Ward No 3 in Hailakandi, Kishore Das Gupta (60) from Badarpur in Karimganj district and Chandanlal Sen (75) also from Badarpur in Karimganj district.
