Biggest single day spike of 4593 +ve cases in Assam, tally goes upto 68,999
Active cases 23,762 in Assam
August 12: It’s a record number of positive cases in Assam on Wednesday. The state recorded its biggest single day spike of 4593 new positive cases. With this, the state tally of coronavirus cases has gone upto 68,999, out of which, 23,762 are active cases. Further, Assam in the last 24 hours, team Assam carried out 143,109 tests. This takes the total test conducted in Assam to a record high of 1573800. Six more deaths were also registered in Assam during the day, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 161.
In a tweet, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ 4593 COVID cases detected out of 143109 maximum tests done in a single day with positivity rate just 3.20%. Kamrup (M)- 632, Kamrup (R)- 460, Nagaon- 335, Dibrugarh- 265.” Further, Cachar district recorded a maximum number of 191 positive cases on Wednesday.
