Big spike in Cachar, 75 detected positive on Saturday, 1 death at Green Heals

Total active cases 192 in Cachar

Jan. 8: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Saturday at 10.20 PM. As per the latest data, 75 persons were found positive in the district on 8 January. Also, 09 patients were discharged (01 hospital & 08 from home) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 192. On Friday, 41 persons were found positive in Cachar. It needs mention here that in Assam, the number of daily positive cases was recorded at 1,254 on Saturday.

As per the updated data, a total of 1,785 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 30 persons were found positive, whereas 45 were detected positive out of 302 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 20,796 whereas during this phase, 20,383 patients were discharged.

There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 7 January to 5 PM on 8 January) did not witness the death of any positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Saturday evening. However, one patient died due to Covid-19 at Green Heals hospital, Silchar in the last 24 hours.

Mira Chowdhury (84) died due to Covid-19 at Green Heals Hospital, Silchar on 7 January, 2022. She was diagnosed ARDS with severe Covid-19 pneumonia.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 08 January, there were 31 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, no patients were put under ventilator support, and 02 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 03 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH but none were discharged. Further, 07 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre.
