Big Boost for Research : Assam University Joint Project Bags Crore-Rupee Grant
কোটি টাকার অনুদান লাভ করল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের যৌথ গবেষণা প্রকল্প

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২১ ডিসেম্বর : উন্নত ব্যাটারি গবেষণার জন্য কোটি টাকার অনুদান লাভ করলো আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এক সহকারী অধ্যাপকের যৌথ গবেষণা প্রকল্প। এই প্রকল্পের সহ-প্রধান গবেষক হিসেবে কাজ করছেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষা বিভাগের রসায়ন বিষয়ের সহকারী অধ্যাপক ড. সুকান্ত মণ্ডল। অ্যাডভান্সড রিসার্চ গ্রান্টের অধীনে ‘অনুসন্ধান ন্যাশনাল রিসার্চ ফাউন্ডেশন’ এই গবেষণা প্রকল্পের জন্য কোটি টাকার অনুদান দিয়েছে।

এই বহুজাতিক গবেষণা প্রকল্পটির প্রধান গবেষক হলেন চেন্নাইয়ের সিএসআইআর-সেন্ট্রাল লেদার রিসার্চ ইনস্টিটিউটের সিনিয়র সায়েন্টিস্ট অধ্যাপক মুদিত দীক্ষিত। এতে সহ-প্রধান গবেষক হিসেবে রয়েছেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সহকারী অধ্যাপক ড. সুকান্ত মণ্ডল ও আইআইটি বম্বের অধ্যাপক অমর্ত্য মুখোপাধ্যায়।

এ প্রসঙ্গে ড. সুকান্ত মণ্ডল জানিয়েছেন, এই প্রকল্পটি কম্পিউটেশনাল ডিজাইন ও পরীক্ষামূলক গবেষণার এক অনন্য সমন্বয়। এই অনুদান আমাদের জন্য যেমন জাতীয় স্তরের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ গবেষণায় অবদান রাখার সুযোগ, তেমনই অঞ্চলের গবেষণা পরিকাঠামোকে আরও শক্তিশালী করবে। প্রসঙ্গত, সোডিয়াম-আয়ন ব্যাটারি লিথিয়াম-আয়ন ব্যাটারির তুলনায় কম খরচের ও টেকসই বিকল্প হিসেবে বিবেচিত হচ্ছে।

এদিকে এই যুগান্তকারী গবেষণা প্রকল্পে সহ-প্রধান গবেষক হিসেবে ড. মণ্ডলের অংশগ্রহণে সন্তোষ ব্যক্ত করে তাঁকে অভিনন্দন জানিয়েছেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ ও নিবন্ধক ড. প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ। ড. মণ্ডলের এই যোগদান আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ক্রমবর্ধমান গবেষণা সক্ষমতা ও জাতীয় স্তরের উচ্চমানের বৈজ্ঞানিক সহযোগিতায় সক্রিয় ভূমিকার প্রতিফলন বলেও উল্লেখ করেছেন তাঁরা।

Way2barak, December 21 : A joint research project led by an Assistant Professor of Assam University has received crore-rupee grant for advanced battery research. The project’s Co-Principal Investigator is Dr. Sukanta Mondal, Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Education at Assam University. Recently, the Anusandhan National Research Foundation awarded this substantial grant under its Advanced Research Grant scheme.

The multinational research project is headed by Prof. Mudit Dixit, Senior Scientist at CSIR–Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai. The Co-Principal Investigators include Dr. Sukanta Mondal of Assam University and Prof. Amartya Mukhopadhyay of IIT Bombay.

In this regard, Dr. Sukanta Mondal stated that the project represents a unique integration of computational design and experimental research. He added that the grant not only provides an important opportunity to contribute to nationally significant research but will also strengthen the region’s research infrastructure. Notably, sodium-ion batteries are being considered a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries.

Meanwhile, expressing satisfaction over Dr. Mondal’s involvement as Co-Principal Investigator in this pioneering research project, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant and Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath congratulated him. They remarked that Dr. Mondal’s participation reflects Assam University’s steadily growing research capacity and its active role in high-quality national-level scientific collaborations.
