Beware! Don’t fall for fake sms on COVID-19, your banking details may be stolen, warns SBI
May 23: In an advisory issued by the country’s biggest public sector bank, the State Bank of India (SBI), it was stated that, “Beware of fake SMSs claiming to provide big offers or information on current pandemic via unknown links or downloading apps from unknown sources, as they are meant to cheat you.” Taking to its twitter handle, SBI warns its customers and informs that in case of any such cyber fraud, they are to “Report phishing links to .” cybercrime.gov.in

SBI in the tweet warns customers against “Cerberus Trojan Malware.” It usually comes in the form of SMS with Covid-19 related information to trick innocent customers who download or click on the embedded link. Once downloaded, the software deploys its malicious app on their smartphones. As per the CBI warning, the trojan primarily focuses on stealing banking details like credit card numbers, CVV and more.
