Barak Valley registers 98 Covid +ve cases on Tuesday, 137 discharged & 2 deaths reported
There are 929 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
July 6: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Tuesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less. A total of 98 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 137 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 929 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Monday, Barak Valley registered 102 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Tuesday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 62 positive cases (It was 56 on Monday)
- Karimganj: 21 positive cases (It was 41 on Monday)
- Hailakandi: 15 positive cases (It was 05 on Monday)
A total of 62 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Tuesday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 3,775 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 38 persons were found positive, whereas 24 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 17,938, whereas during this phase, 17,351 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 415. Also, 79 patients were discharged during the day. The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 5 July to 5 PM on 6 July) also did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday evening.
However, National health Mission (NHM), Assam in its Covid Report of 6 July, 2021 informed that two persons died in Karimganj district due to Covid-19. However, the details about the deceased were not made available till the filing of this report.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 6 July, there were 110 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 50 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 60 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 15 patients were put under ventilator support and 78 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 13 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 18 of them were discharged.
Hailakandi registered 15 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. Of the 15 positive cases detected on Tuesday, 13 of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 02 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 104 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,140 RAT tests and 239 RT-PCR tests were done. 10 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,562 (both 1st & 2nd wave). As of now, a total of 4,036 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 05 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Monday. Till date 47 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered 21 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The district has currently 410 active COVID-19 cases, while 48 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Tuesday. 3,117 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 41 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Monday.
On Tuesday, out of 1,00,262 tests, 2,640 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,22,267. The positivity rate in the state is 2.43 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 203 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 34 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,717. The recovery rate is 94.45 percent. On Tuesday, 1,745 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,93,306 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 22,897 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 34 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 34 deceased, 04 each are from Golaghat, Kamrup Rural & Tinsukia; 03 each from Dibrugarh & Sivasagar; 02 each from Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Karimganj & Lakhimpur; 01 each from Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dima Hasao, Hojai, Kokhrajhar, Morigaon, Nalbari & Sonitpur. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,717.
