Barak Valley registers 74 Covid +ve cases on Tuesday, 86 discharged & 1 death reported
There are 646 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
July 20: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Tuesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was alomost same. A total of 74 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 86 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 646 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Monday, Barak Valley registered 72 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Tuesday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 46 positive cases (It was 41 on Monday)
- Karimganj: 18 positive cases (It was 22 on Monday)
- Hailakandi: 10 positive cases (It was 09 on Monday)
A total of 46 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Tuesday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 6,758 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 31 persons were found positive, whereas 15 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,635 whereas during this phase, 18,137 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 318. Also, 46 patients were discharged during the day. The Covid-19 situation in Cachar is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 19 July to 5 PM on 20 July) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday evening. The deceased, a 3-year-old child was identified as:
- Habibur Rahman (03 years) from Borbondh Part-II in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH on 19 July. The kid, however, passed away at 9 AM on 20 July.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 20 July, there were 72 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 43 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 29 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 05 patients were put under ventilator support and 55 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 07 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 01 of them were discharged.
Hailakandi registered only 10 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. Of the 10 positive cases detected on Monday, 09 of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 01 person was detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 76 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,371 RAT tests and 160 RT-PCR tests were done. 19 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,716 (both 1st & 2nd wave).
As of now, a total of 4,216 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 09 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Monday. Till date 48 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district. A total of 1,214 persons were vaccinated till 5.30 PM in the district on Tuesday.
Karimganj registered 18 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The district has currently 252 active COVID-19 cases, while 21 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Tuesday. 3,111 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 22 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Monday.
On Tuesday, out of 1,42,017 tests, 1,798 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,50,878. The positivity rate in the state is 1.27 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 256 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 10 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 5,029. The recovery rate is 95.89 percent. On Tuesday, 1,645 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 5,28,252 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 16,250 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 10 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 10 deceased, 01 each are from Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Darrang, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Kamrup Metro, Kamrup Rural & Sonitpur. The death tally of the state now stands at 5,029.
