Barak Valley registers 70 Covid +ve cases on Sunday, 83 discharged

There are 818 active Covid cases in Barak Valley

July 11: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Sunday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less. A total of 70 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 83 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 818 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Saturday, Barak Valley registered 87 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Sunday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 46 positive cases   (It was 62 on Saturday)
  • Karimganj: 13 positive cases (It was 18 on Saturday)
  • Hailakandi: 11 positive cases (It was 07 on Saturday)

A total of 46 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Sunday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 3,572 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 26 persons were found positive, whereas 20 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,215, whereas during this phase, 17,653 patients were discharged.The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 389. Also, 49 patients were discharged during the day.  The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 10 July to 5 PM on 11 July) did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Sunday evening.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 11 July, there were 95 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 44 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 51 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 10 patients were put under ventilator support and 62 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 13 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 27 of them were discharged.

Hailakandi registered 11 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. Of the 11 positive cases detected on Sunday, 10 of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 01 person was detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 114 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 413 RAT tests and 130 RT-PCR tests were done. 03 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,622 (both 1st & 2nd wave).

As of now, a total of 4,086 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 07 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Saturday. Till date 47 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district. No vaccination drive was conducted in Hailakandi on Sunday.

Karimganj registered only 13 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday. The district has currently 315 active COVID-19 cases, while 31 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Sunday. 2,936 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 18 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Saturday.

On Sunday, out of 97,257 tests, 1,579 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,33,663. The positivity rate in the state is 1.62 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 150 positive cases during the day. Further, on Sunday, 16 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,828. The recovery rate is 95.10 percent. On Sunday, 2,793 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 5,07,516 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 19,972 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 16 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 16 deceased, 02 each are from Kamrup Rural & Kokhrajhar; 01 each from Baksa, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Hojai, Karbi Anglong, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur & Tinsukia. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,828.
