Barak Valley registers 485 Covid +ve cases on Wednesday, 833 discharged & 4 deaths recorded
There are 4,986 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
June 9: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Wednesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less. A total of 485 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 833 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 4,986 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Tuesday, Barak Valley registered 606 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Wednesday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 314 positive cases (It was 450 on Tuesday)
- Karimganj: 113 positive cases (It was 90 on Tuesday)
- Hailakandi: 58 positive cases (It was 66 on Tuesday)
A total of 314 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Wednesday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 12,810 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 267 persons were found positive, whereas 47 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 13,702 whereas during this phase, 10,782 patients were discharged.
Also, 558 patients were discharged after getting cured during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,786.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 8 June to 5 PM on 9 June) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Of the 04 deceased, 02 are from Cachar district, while 01 each are from Karimganj and Hailakandi.
The deceased were identified as Monir Ahmed (59) from Silcoorie in Cachar, Gopa Namasudra (38) from Karimganj, Namor Ali (71) from Hailakandi and Kabita Sarkar (30) from Harinagar in Cachar district.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 9 June, there were 213 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 86 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 127 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 24 patients were put under ventilator support and 149 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 33 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 32 of them were discharged. Further, 19 of them have opted for home isolation.
Hailakandi registered 58 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Of the 58 positive cases detected on Wednesday, 55 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 03 found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 1,104 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 2,429 RAT tests and 201 RT-PCR tests were done. 158 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 6,938. As of now, a total of 2,429 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 66 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Tuesday.
As of now, in the 58,328 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 16,851 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered 113 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. The district has currently 1,096 active COVID-19 cases, while 117 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Wednesday. 3,722 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 90 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, out of 1,15,806 tests, 3,751 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,46,445. The positivity rate in the state is 3.24 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 430 positive cases during the day. Further, on Wednesday, 55 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 3,793. The recovery rate is 87.99 percent. On Wednesday, 4,355 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 3,92,806 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 48,499 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 55 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 55 deceased, 07 are from Dibrugarh; 05 from Sonitpur; 04 each from Dhubri, Jorhat & Kamrup Metro; 03 each from Cachar, Golaghat, Hojai, Karimganj, Sivasagar & Tinsukia; 02 from Kokhrajhar; 01 each from Barpeta, Charaideo, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Hailakandi, Kamrup Rural, Morigaon & Udalguri. The death tally of the state now stands at 3,793.
